Germantown Masters Name First Recipients of Lesley Evans Award

After taking nominations from the team, head coaches Mark Ward and Beth Kremer recently named Jane Koda and Mike Berbert winners of the 1999 Lesley Evans Practice Award. Lesley recently moved to Arizona and now swims with the Sun Devil Masters, but during her four years with Germantown she set an outstanding example by working hard to improve at each workout.

Both Jane Koda and Mike Berbert are hard workers in practice, and are terrific examples of the benefits of keeping fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They incorporate Masters swimming into a cross-training plan that includes other aerobic exercise as well as strength training. They both built up their training regimes gradually and are sensible about listening to their bodies’ reminders about when to take breaks. In the pool, they are consistently positive and an inspiration for the rest of us. Congratulations Jane and Mike.
