Potomac Valley Masters Swimming membership has grown for 15 consecutive years, making us one of the largest Masters Swimming regions in the country!

Why not share our abundant resources with our community? Swimmers at our November meeting responded enthusiastically to contributing a little of our time and money to local swimming-related causes. Suggestions include:

• A cash donation or project for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, as many of us have done the Bay Swim!
• Volunteering with swim programs such as Special Olympics, KEEN, Recreation & Parks, or seniors
• Subsidizing bathing suits, caps, or t-shirts for a financially-strapped high school swim team
• Contributing to the travel fund and/or the scholarship fund for Potomac Valley USA Swimming, our local governing body for competitive youth swimming
• Hosting a Toys for Tots or other holiday toy collection in conjunction with a winter swim meet
• Hosting a collection for a local food bank or shelter in conjunction with a swim meet

How will Potomac Valley Masters Swimming benefit from sharing our resources?

• It’s a great way for teams/team members to meet each other
• It will publicize Potomac Valley Masters Swimming to potential members
• We will develop and strengthen community ties
• We will receive positive publicity
• We will feel good about helping others

We will select our first project at the next Potomac Valley meeting which is at Bethesda’s Montgomery Aquatic Center (MAC) on March 31 at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be finished in time for warm ups for the Albatross Open swim meet which will be at MAC.
