Potomac Valley LMSC Annual Meeting, November 19, 2000

Report from the Chair:
- Lynn Hazlewood, Colonies Zone representative, was elected to the position of Zone chair at the October USMS convention. She joins Colonies zone member, Jack Geoghegan (USMS Vice President) and Betsy Durrant (USMS Secretary) on the USMS Executive Committee.
- Craig Campesi, of Virginia Masters, was elected Colonies Zone representative at the October 14 zone meeting at the USMS convention. He replaces Lynn Hazlewood who was elected Zone chair.
Report from the Registrar:
- Northern Virginia Aquatics Club has become Annandale Masters.
- There are 1811 members in Potomac Valley compared to 1751 at this time in 1999, and 1535 in 1998.
- Registration cards cannot be mailed out until the beginning of December because of a delay in printing.
Sanctions Report:
- Dont forget to send Joann Leilich and Margot Pettijohn a hard copy of meet results.
- The following individuals will serve as meet evaluators:

Top Ten Committee Report:
- If possible submit meet results using HYTEK software, to Joann Leilich on a diskette.
- Joann will begin determining PV swim records. If its well received, well continue to maintain it.
Awards Committee Report:
- Marilyn Redman will become the new Awards chair.
- Suggestions were solicited for a new PV award perhaps a service award?
Officials Committee Report:
- A list of major rules changes from convention will be posted to the PV website (http://www.pvmasters.org).
- One of the new rules involves the backstroke start (meters and yards). The toes must be below the water surface at the start.
General Discussion:
- Jeff Roddin noted that SC nationals in 2002 will be in Hawaii; LC will be in Cleveland. (2001 LC nationals will be in Federal Way, WA; SC will be in Santa Clara, CA.)
- If a club has USA swimmers attending a practice, the coach must be USA certified or else the USA swimmers are not covered by insurance. (USMS swimmers are unaffected.)
- CJ Hall proposed a number of ways that PV could get involved in some local charitable causes. She will submit an article with suggestions to the December PV newsletter.
Next Meeting: March 31, 2001, 1:30PM, at the Montgomery Aquatics Center, before the Albatross Open meet.
