Long Course Nationals Challenge
By Barb Protzman, Meet Director
This summer, Potomac Valley swimmers will be able to take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a USMS National Championship Meet right in their own back yard. The Maryland Masters Swim Team is hosting the USMS Long Course Nationals on August 17-20 at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) outdoor pool.
We would like to challenge the Potomac Valley teams to go for the team award. Do you think you can beat us in our home pool? Let's show the rest of the country what the Colonies Zone is made of. Two Potomac Valley swimmers set World records in this pool last summer - Clay Britt in the 35-39 50 meter backstroke, and Joanne Leilich in the 60-64 200 meter breaststroke.
The meet entry information will be available in the May issue of SWIM Magazine. It is also available on www.usms.org, along with an online entry system which eliminates the worry of mailing and entry mistakes.
We hope a large contingent of Potomac Valley swimmers will join us for the fun this summer. We will be having a great crab feast on Saturday night with a live band featuring one of our own swimmers. You know that Maryland Masters know how to party!
