Masters Aquatics at Spring Hill (MASH) is a relatively new masters group that received its USMS charter in 1997. Since 1997, the club has grown from a very small group of swimmers to almost thirty. The charter group felt that there was a need for a masters swimming program that catered to early morning commuters. Most area masters teams had only one or two morning workouts per week with the bulk of the workouts scheduled for evening off-peak pool hours.

Who: You!  We are a friendly group and really try to make newcomers feel welcome.

Where: MASH workouts are held Monday through Friday at Spring Hill Recreation Center. Please click on Directions to view a map of the Spring Hill area and to get driving directions.

When: Our workouts start at 6:30 AM and end around 7:30 AM. We are one of the few Washington area master's programs that offers exclusively morning workouts.

How: We are also one of the only programs that has no formal coach on deck.  Members take turns creating workouts for the team.  Don’t worry, we don’t task new members with this until they feel comfortable.  Tips from experienced swimmers are always available.

Cost: The only cost to MASH members is admission to Spring Hill (a Fairfax County recreation center) and an annual Potomac Valley Masters registration (Currently $45.00). Fairfax County recreation center fees are based on a per-visit, monthly, semiannual, or annual basis. Passes are on sale periodically several times each year—usually Fall and

MASH prides itself on providing a friendly and competitive swimming experience. If you are interested in joining MASH or trying a workout, contact Don Alexander or feel free to drop by the pool one morning. We look forward to seeing you!
